Psychosis or transcendence?

The mystic has become emancipated from the persuasions of psychic content, while the psychotic has become lost in them.

Some Kundalini awakening symptoms can be categorized and misdiagnosed as mental disorder cases, this can can be really traumatic on top of the already ongoing crisis.

The imbalance can even resemble in chemistry to kundalini so one can say all disorders are due to a misaligned flow of life force and a weak nervous system. Only a person within the condition, or a therapist who recognizes kundalini, can evaluate the symptoms on the scale which is quite mutable with time and there is no rigid distinction between the two ends.

The cognitive reorganization that takes place in each is patterned by the expectations of the culture, so that although the original state is similar, the end state is not.

For those that are breaking out of consensus mind and leaning toward the psychotic end of the scale, this vulnerable condition is NOT the time to be in intensive meditation, shadow clearing work or self inquiry.


All these practices channel the energy up the spine without opening the circuit and proper grounding which is psychosomatic.


For these people stabilizing and ego structure building is needed more than uncovering therapies as the interpenetration of the levels of consciousness proceeds.


The practices for the periods of unstable integration between the levels of consciousness should be of an embodiment and boundary building nature.


Development of the wit through realisation of the big cosmic joke and inculcating humour element in life helps build the weak pre frontal cortex. Self-definition through internal exploration via practices of a self-originating and self suggestive nature are of great help.


The work of Miguel Ruiz, Byron Katie, Joseph Campbell and would be valuable at this stage to establish the self/other boundary and build up the core-self.


Once the core is strong, one can be introduced to yogic texts, works of Carl Jung, non duality, and can indulge in the Kundalini raising process if they feel that is their path.

The anti psychotic medicine provided for the suppression of symptoms has to eventually be stopped if one wishes to further the process, it makes the neurochemistry weak as one gets hooked to the pharmaceuticals and that causes rather detriment.

After getting off the drugs, the symptoms get enhanced and one might initially have withdrawals, that stage is crossed with support of close ones who understand the situation, a good diet, natural herbs and other healing meditation practices to detox.

Guidance and support of others going through the process is valuable and helps speed up the recovery.
